Blanchard Grinding or Rotary Surface Grinding

TMT uses a variety of Blanchard machines for rotary surface grinding of metal plates. The main feature of our Blanchard Grinding operation is heavy stock removal at a fast rate for all magnetic materials. Non-ferrous parts are handled at lower production speeds do to holding requirements. The rotary surface grinding of Blanchard will leave its trademark cross-hatched surface finished pattern, typically within a 32-125 RMS range, although better finishes are possible.

Blanchard Grinding is also referred to as Rotary Surface Grinding and it quickly removes stock from one side of a part. Parts as large as 42" by 42" can be Blanchard ground on our machines. These rotary surface grinding machines achieve excellent dimensional tolerances to ± .001", Parallelism to .001", and flatness to .001". Blanchard grinding machines utilize significantly greater horsepower than other grinding methods, and removes large amounts of stock quickly and efficiently.
